Serving Life

I'm not an Oprah fan. I watched her talk show occasionally, but didn't really care for it. I don't buy her magazine. I don't watch the Oxygen channel and I wasn't going to watch anything on her new network, OWN.

I wasn't going to watch anything on OWN until I saw an ad on another channel for this documentary produced by one of my favorite actor/director's, Forrest Whitaker. The documentary is called Serving Life. It's about prisoners serving life sentences in a Louisiana prison for unspeakably brutal crimes and volunteer to work in the prison hospice. This is the trailer for the documentary.

I recorded the program a couple of weeks ago and Tom and I just got around to watching it last night. We both cried. I will watch it again.

We agree on so many things, including Oprah and Whitaker. I'm going to have to hunt around for this to see whether it's streamed online somewhere.
