Paying the Price

My niece and her three kids left yesterday morning after a six day visit. We parted after three very long, very emotional hugs, neither willing to succumb to the tears just below the surface.

We had a wonderful time with lots of conversation and laughter. Most of the time was spent relaxing around the house, watching the kids play in the kiddie pool we've had stored in the shed and in the hot tub pushing the control buttons for the pump.

The employees at the water park enjoyed our company on two separate afternoons.

I got my first sunburn in years from sitting in 1-1/2 feet of water in the kiddie area playing with the 3- and 5-year old. Even my lips got sunburn. My knees, thighs and shoulders itch. Without a shadow of a doubt, I am going to peel. Given the scope of the sunburn, it's not going to be pretty.

Even with the sunburn, the hugs were still more important. That speaks volumes about your character! If you have an aloe vera plant, try that.

Val, I have a huge bottle of aloe vera gel I bought when my grandkids visited. Thanks heavens for grandkids! :)
