The Fiscal Cliff

As I write this on New Year's Eve, we are headed for the fiscal cliff. Congress is at an impasse. Doom and gloom is eminent. We've seen movie analogies of cars driving over a cliff, smashing at the bottom of a ravine, killing the driver. It's ugly.

We've had the television on most of the afternoon, watching the play by play reporting of nothingness. Tom became desperate.

TOM: If we're going over the cliff, I think when we go to bed tonight, we should have sex one last time.

ME: Really? The last thing you think about before you die is sex?

TOM: No. Probably not, going to bathroom would be the last thing?

ME: Going to the bathroom or having sex are the only things you think about before you die? Are you kidding me?

TOM: I'm an old guy. What do you expect?

If we survive the fiscal cliff, I'm going to have work with Tom on his priorities.

Judging from his priorities, I'd say he's an old guy only 50% of the time.
